They were certainly home-brew pubs, but there is no doubt that they qualified as commercial breweries, thus rendering inaccurate the assertion that the Cronx Brewery is the first in Croydon since 1954. (Incidentally, Burke's beer was, of course, sold in other pubs as well as the Lion.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810731059842577761.post-1592330357502630922012-12-12T16:34:43.351+00:002012-12-12T16:34:43.351+00:00I believe you are correct although both were brew ...I believe you are correct although both were brew pubs, where as Cronx is the first stand alone Brewery Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14172369652091857150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810731059842577761.post-42310567812594887712012-12-03T11:29:29.872+00:002012-12-03T11:29:29.872+00:00The establishment of the Cronx Brewery is clearly ...The establishment of the Cronx Brewery is clearly good news, but it is certainly not the first brewery in Croydon since the closure of Page and Overton in 1954. In fact, two other Croydon breweries have come and gone since then: Burke's Brewery at the Lion, Pawsons Road, was brewing from 1981 to 1986; and the Fiddler and Firkin in South End was brewing from 1993 to 1999. <br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
